Elf on the Shelf is a holiday tradition for so many families, including ours. And while there are so many Elf on the Shelf ideas out there, we experienced the most memorable and joy filled Elf on the Shelf idea ever just this year. A friend’s elf spent a day in a jar and I am so grateful that our children, especially our daughter, was able to experience the joy of spending a fun filled day with our Elf on the Shelf in a jar.
Letting your child spend a day with Elf on the Shelf in a jar will easily become the most memorable Elf on the Shelf idea ever.
The best thing about this idea is that it requires almost no supplies. You can use your elf and a mason jar. You can also use a Tupperware container or a glad container. I’d imagine an elf might even like to stay the day in a lantern an acrylic doll box.
Our Elf on the Shelf, Marco, has been visiting us for TEN years. Honestly, it’s so hard to believe that we introduced the Elf on the Shelf a decade ago in our home.
And I am so grateful we did. Elf on the Shelf has been one of our children’s favorite traditions in our home; they really don’t know life without him.
But they also never really knew life with him. Until this year when they got to spend a day with our Elf on the Shelf in a jar.
Spending a Day with Elf on the Shelf in a Jar
The kids woke to find our Elf on the Shelf has left a note for them explaining that he had put himself in a Tupperware container so he could spend the day with the kids.
He told them to show him around but to make sure the lid was always tight so he would not lose his magic.
The joy. Oh, the pure joy on Ava’s face brought tears to my eyes and does so again just writing about it. Her eyes lit up and her smile never left throughout the day.
Best Elf on the Shelf Idea at the Movies
She took our Elf on the Shelf to the movies (and he met ANOTHER Elf on the Shelf in a jar), played outside with him, listened to music on her bed, and showed him her world.
The day was so special that she left him a sweet note begging for more time with him. She asked for five more days, which would have extended our Elf on the Shelf’s visit beyond Christmas.
She knew he couldn’t but asked only because she just started her holiday break from school and finally had time to play and show him around.
While Marco could not come back for five days, he was back the next morning for more Elf on the Shelf in a jar fun.
Making Memories with Elf on the Shelf
Memories were made, genuine magic-filled our days and the holiday tradition of Elf on the Shelf was reaffirmed in our home before we said goodbye to our Elf on the Shelf.
These two days of watching our Elf on the Shelf in a jar bring such joy to our home showed us as parents just why we do Elf on the Shelf. With over ten years of ideas behind us, this was the BEST Elf on the Shelf idea ever.
